JD Fordyce

"JD the AD" is a master of chaos, a wearer of many hats, and an unapologetic chaser of squirrels. Before stepping onto film sets, he served in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and Special Operations, completing multiple overseas deployments. His time in the military has shaped his ability to lead teams under pressure, adapt to ever-changing challenges, and keep a cool head—skills that translate seamlessly into the fast-paced world of filmmaking.After earning his BFA in Film from the Brooks Institute in 2016, JD dove headfirst into the industry, bringing a narrative-driven approach to every project. As a dedicated Assistant Director, he has helped bring stories to life on films such as Blood Wine (2024), Shattered (2023), and Drive Back (2022), while also producing and working as a key grip on Decibel (2023). His expertise extends beyond AD work to cinematography and camera operation, contributing to projects like Deacon Jones and Cabin for Sale.At his core, JD is passionate about storytelling that resonates beyond the surface—crafting moments that connect with an audience’s humanity. Whether managing the controlled chaos of a film set or capturing the perfect shot, he thrives in the creative trenches, bringing efficiency, energy, and a sense of humor to every production.
